Due to the market needs for quality, consistency and speed Lexcelera decided to implement a CAT tool that would help the company achieve these goals. MemoQ became the obvious choice after months of research.
The tool is simple to use, reliable and offers a great cost-benefit ratio. Its developers, based in Hungary (Kilgray: http://www.kilgray.com/), are very much involved in customer support and in developing new solutions to adapt the tool to the needs of users.
In these pages we will add as much information as possible in order to help our translators learn about the tool, from the first steps to advance usage.
MemoQ 4.X is the lastest version of MemoQ. Don’t worry, there is not a lot of changes. You’ll get used to it quite fast.
The main change for linguists that work with Lexcelera will be the format in which they will receive the documents to translate. Instead of importing an .xpr file at the beginning of a project, a .mqout file will be imported. This will give you all the links, files and data that you used to receive on the .xpr, plus others such as your role and deadline.
For those of you that have bought MemoQ the upgrade will be free if you fall in the two categories below:
- if the invoice was issued before 1 September 2008, the licenses are free until 1 September 2011,
- if the invoice was issued afterwards, you will have one year of free upgrades. So 4.X is free for you if you bought memoQ after 15 May 2009.
Otherwise the standard 20% upgrade and maintenance fee (124 euros + eventually VAT) will be applied by Kilgray.
For those linguists that work with Lexcelera on concrete projects and that are lent ELM licenses all will remain the same. Licenses will be allocated based on need and availability.
